Help! I have a 2006 Subaru Outback (85,000 miles) and on a recent visit for general maintenance I told the mechanic of a strange ticking noise when I accelerated. Upon examination he felt it was the connecting rod bearing and I should replace the engine in the small tune of $5000. He explained that the ticking would get worse and louder.
